Atomic Instrument

Atomic Instrument

Grammy award winning engineer F. Reid Shippen wondered if there was a better way to power his SSL. Norman had already began the prototyping phase of a replacement power supply. The two took a page or two out of some Justice League comics and started Atomic Instrument. So what is this thing? It's a power supply that uses about half the energy, lowers noise floor (up to 13dBu), increases reliability, and drastically improves sound quality. There's a video below detailing the recycling steps for your current power supply, FYI.

Atomic can be used on Amek, Neotek, Neve, and SSL consoles.

Speakers

Speakers

The dude has been making speakers for almost 30 years. He doesn't give a shit about DSP or built in limiters or impressing anybody. At Norman Druce Audio the only concerns are an extremely accurate reproduction of the sound and recordings that translate in the real world.

These few speakers shown model vintage Altec speakers. The cabinets, however, are three times thicker and use modern, low distortion, components.

who is this norm guy?

who is this norm guy?

Having experienced most angles in the music industry, from performing musician to studio owner and recording engineer, Norman knows what exactly is needed from the musician, producers and engineer’s standpoint.

His philosophy comes from the tradition of ‘old school’ audio without the constant need or reliance on computers. Instead, he finds a happy medium between the two.

Norm is a Michigan native and has worked with the likes of Prince, Carl Craig, the Bass Brothers, Glenn Brown as well as the producers of Eminem, Kid Rock and D12 and many others and continues to grow his client list.
